who we are

Set up in 2002, Ecos Homes (Ltd) is a subsidiary company formed by the Ecos Trust, which sets out to create a new breed of developer. Ecos Homes gives equal weight to environmental and social issues, as well as competing within the commercial market place.

Ecos Homes is a social enterprise, which covenants its profits back to Ecos Trust, a charity managed by a Board of Trustees.

what we do

Our vision is to show sustainable design and construction in practice, persuade planners, builders, developers and estate agents of its practicality, and prove that it meets a real, and as yet unsatisfied, demand from house buyers.

As well as the urgent need to curb global warming, there are other equally important parts of sustainable construction that make it so important, including indoor air quality, rural housing needs and the use of local labour and materials.

Ecos Homes' pioneering project, Great Bow Yard, sets the standard for sustainability. Great Bow Yard is a unique waterfront development of 12 eco-homes, and a Grade II listed warehouse, currently being sympathetically restored to provide serviced offices, workshops and a bistro with gallery space. Surrounding the eco-houses and warehouse, a community garden is being landscaped, with native species selected specifically to attract wildlife to the area.
