Bridport is a vibrant market town with a strong community spirit. It is known as a Gateway Town for the World Heritage Site of the Jurassic Coast and is a Beacon Town, promoting the high quality and variety of local food from sea to vale. The town was Runner Up for the 2006 South West Local Food Award and many local producers trade at the Farmers' Market in the Arts Centre on the second Saturday of the month.
Bridport has a strong artistic community and national, international and independent businesses can be found in the town. Community organisations and voluntary groups play a key role in the life of the town and this is evident from the wide range and number of events and activities that take place throughout the year.
